It was a memorable day at the 29th and 30th combined Convocation of the University of Jos at the JT Useni Stadium Jos, on the 23rd of June where the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerians Communications Communication, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta was conferred with Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa.
The honorary degree was conferred on the NCC Helmsman for the outstanding contributions to National development and the growth of humanity alongside, His Royal Highness, Saf Batura the Second, Engineer John Mallo and the former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro.
The Telecom Regulator’s CEO used the opportunity to reaffirm the Commissions commitment to Quality of Service, while assuring Consumers that all issues emanating from Value Added Services will be resolved to the barest minimum.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako stated that the EVC along side other distinguished honoraries have made positive impact in the economy hence the conferment of the degrees.
Before the EVC took over the helms of affair at the NCC, he had long been in the corridor of acadamia, he has served as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Technology of Bayero University Kano for 28 years, where he taught courses in telecommunications engineering and electronics and held academic positions of Dean of the Faculty and Head of Department at different times. After which he became the Acting Vice-Chancellor Kano State University of Science & Technology, when it took off in 2001.
Recall that just recently, the Professor was awarded by Business Journals Magazine and Authority Newspapers.
