The Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has said that gender equality and rights of women remains sacrosanct to the Nigerian Army.
General Buratai made this known during a courtesy visit by the delegations of Women Association of Journalists in Abuja.
The Chief of Army Staff said women engagements in field of operations has been the focus in all operations and administrations of the Army for Equal opportunities for all.
Speaking earlier, Head of Delegations and Chairperson, Stella Okoh-Essien acknowledged and commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army towards effectively compacting threats of criminal vices in the country saying the demand for equality by women in Nigeria can only be achieved through adequate peace and security of lives and property.
Advising women, COAS said women must get adequate skill and empowerment, as well as education for the realization of their dreams through securing positions of influence.
The theme; “Gender Equality and Realizing the Rights of Women” was to mark and celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
