“I want to congratulate our Muslim brothers for this celebration and urge them to be guided by the doctrine of Islam, which preaches love, faith , sacrifice, contentment, perseverance, courage and humility at all times.
“They must embrace the faith preached by Prophet Ibrahim with his conduct in the service to Almighty Allah. It is only in faith that we can remain united, patriotic, corrupt -free, detribalised and courageous to defeat all evils confronting us.
“Let us begin to be our brother’s keepers and refrain from actions that can create wedges, cleavages and venoms, by concentrating energies on areas of comparative advantages and those things that bind us as a people for Nigeria to have a prosperous and rewarding future”.
These are the words of the Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, in his congratulatory message to Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to reinforce their patriotic spirit for Nigeria to stand indivisibly united and strong.
In his Sallah message to Muslims in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Bamidele appealed to the adherents of Islamic religion to fortify their faith for the progress of the nation and work harmoniously with other religions to actualise the dream of the Nigeria’s founding fathers.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters spoke about the uniqueness of this year’s edition , which came during Covid 19 pandemic, saying the current precarious situation can only be overcome through concerted prayers by all faith-based bodies.
He urged the Muslims to pray for the subsidence of the lethal disease and abide by all the guidelines stipulated by the World Health Organisation to contain its spread.
