Chairman of Southern Senators Forum and Senator representing Ekiti Central, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele on Wednesday was at the Omole Lagos residence of the late spokesperson of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, on a condolence visit.

Opeyemi who was in company of Senator Iyiola Omisore and Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi arrived at Odumakin’s residence around afternoon, was received by the deceased’s wife, Dr. Joe Okei- Odumakin, who is president of a rights group, Women Arise Initiative (WAI).

While consoling the widow Opeyemi and also responding to questions from Journalists at the late Afenifere spokesperson’s resident, he described the late him as a hero who saw, conquered and contributed to the welfare of people and humanity.

Speaking further the Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary and Legal matters said moments like this calls for sober reflection and the call to work for humanity.

“As we mourn the death, it is time for us to also play up those issues and continue to see the need for us to work for a better Nigeria.

In a matter of years, it will no longer matter what kind of dresses or clothes we wore, what kind of cars we drove, how much was in our bank accounts. What will matter is our contribution to humanity. Those are the things that will be remembered as legacies.” He said

Odumakin died last Friday at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LASUTH), following complications arising from COVID-19.
