The Executive Vice Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Hon.Ayodeji Obayan, has revealed that the reason the people of the local government voted massively for the incumbent governor Rotimi Akeredolu, in the just concluded governorship election was due to the unprecendented massive infrastructural development instituted in the area by the governor.
Election results of Akoko North-East Local Government area as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, showed that Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored a total of 16,572 votes, while PDP got 8,380 votes and ZLP polled 3,532 votes.
Obayan, who graciously thanked the people of his local Government for coming out en masse to vote for H.E.Arakurin oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN in the just concluded ondo state Governorship election, said the great people of Akoko North East has reciprocated the good gesture of the Governor in the local government in the area of infrastructural development and the general welfare of the people.
He prayed that God will give the Governor the strength and wisdom to paddle the affairs of the state for the next tenure.
Akeredolu of the APC polled 292,830 votes to defeat Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP who scored 195,780 votes while his former deputy, Agboola Ajayi, who contested on the ticket of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, polled 69,127 to place third.
Declaring the results on Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, stated that Akeredolu won in 15 out of the 18 local governments in Ondo State.
In his acceptance speech Governor Akeredolu thank the President and commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for the support and love.
