The two Day Workshop on “Information and Communication Technology Utilization and Sustainability” organised by the Universal Service Provision Funds (USPF) which held at Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State dwelt on various topics especially in the area of the digital economy, presentations and exhibition of online payment products and resolving challenges in Financial Inclusion especially in the underserved communities.

Speaking about what the USPF and Nigerians Communications Commissions is doing to provide access in rural areas and the utilization of ICT resources the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, encouraged youths to take advantage ICT which he says is able to fill the unemployment gap and automatically create employment for others.
Also assuring Telecom Subscribers especially in the rural areas of digital access, the Chairman NCC, Senator Olabiyi Durojaye said Ijebu Igbo is just one of the zones where the Commission has taken the workshop to and intends to take it to many other parts of the Country.
On the part of the organizers USPF, The Secretary USPF, Ayuba Shuaibu who was represented by Head Strategy (USPF) Mr Kelechi Nwankwo spoke about the Regulator’s “Drive towards digital economy, and what the USPF has done in the past and is still doing to provide access in underserved areas.
 
According to the USPF Secretary, in achieving the vision of providing sustainable and equitable ICT access for all, the programs and projects they have provided includes; Accelerated Mobile Phone Expansion Program (AMPEP), Backbone Transmission Infrastructure (BTRAIN), Rural Broadband Initiative (RuBi), School Knowledge Centre (SKC) amongst others.
The event dwelt on Universal access and inclusion for national economies and how to take advantage of mobile communication infrastructure in reaching financial excluded members of the Society.
