Imo North senatorial Screening committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tuesday disclosed that one of the alleged winners of the party’s controversial primary election conducted last Thursday, Ibezim Chukwuma Frank, was not eligible to contest the primary as he has already been disqualified.
Addressing journalists at the National secretariat of APC in Abuja, chairman of the committee, Lawrence Chukwu, flanked by some of his members, said Ibezim and five other aspirants were screened out based on discrepancies in the academic qualifications and failure to meet the requirements for qualifications.
Chukwu alleged that the party jettisoned the committee’s report which cleared 5 aspirants out of eleven, and went ahead to allow both the aspirants cleared and not cleared to run for the Senatorial primaries.

Quoting section 3(f) of the party’s guidelines for the nomination of candidates, Chukwu said only aspirants fully cleared by the party shall be eligible to stand election at the party’s primaries.
Chukwu stated that Ibezim was not cleared to contest the Imo North Senatorial primary elections on the grounds that he did not submit any originals of his educational qualification certificates or properly certified true copies for citing.
He added that Ibezim presented a statutory declaration of age deposed to by one Emmanuel lbezim, who happens to be his elder brother while statutory age declaration was not signed by the declarant, which rendered the document invalid, among others.
Recall that the APC, through its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, had earlier last Wednesday issued a statement stating that all aspirants who participated in the screening exercise were cleared to participate in the primary election.
