The civil society center of leadership and followership has called on Nigerian government to pay more attention to the health sector in the country.
The coordinator of the Civil Society Center of Leadership and Followership, Comrade Adams Otakwu gave the charge at a press briefing on COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Comrade Adams said that the survey made by the society reveals that no country including the world’s power was prepared for the COVID 19 pandemic which has ravaged the world.
He further stated that the findings revealed that testing has been a major challenge, and that even the most developed countries, with an average cost $20 per test as exclusive cost of reagents aside man power and other logistics.
Comrade Adams said that the Nigerian government was ill prepared for the pandemic and has a very weak response strategies.
He also said that COVID 19 response in Nigeria is a looting and contract awarding opportunity by government and presidential task force(PTF).
He reiterated that the entire world is under an ambush and every stage of the outbreak and response is a learning curve.
The Comrade however advised the presidential task force (PTF) to work further closely with civil society for greater community engagement.
