Not fewer than 9 civilian have been killed and several passengers were forcefully taken away when suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents attack a community in Borno state on Sunday night, resident said.
The incident occurred at about 9: 50pm in Auno town along Maidiguri-Damaturu highway in Konduga local government area of Borno state on Sunday night, set ablaze a total of 17 vehicles with goods worth hundreds of millions of naira.
According to the resident Ba”na Auno who escaped the attacks last night said the victims were passengers who had stopped over in Auno due to closure of Maiduguri entrance at 6pm.
“They came exactly 9:50pm on Sunday and started shooting sporadically, we fled into bushes for safety, unfortunately when we returned this morning to Auno town: We found 9 passengers were killed but 5 of them could not be recognized as a result of severe burnt,” said.
Resident Modu Babagana disclosed that several women abducted by insurgents and some houses was burnt down as well as several commercial vehicles burnt including 8 trucks with goods worth hundreds of millions.
“They went a hummer bus, a golf car and J5 bus, several women were forcefully taking away; more than 20 houses and shops looted and raze down by the attackers.”said Modu.
